This week LUV's spotlighting Allie Pleiter, who writes both fiction and non-fiction working on as many as four novels at a time. She's the bestselling author of over fifty books, Allie has enjoyed a twenty-year career with over 1.5 million books sold. LUV: You write both romance and mystery. Why? Allie: I’ve never been the kind of person to do only one thing. I thrive on variety. I’ve written in several genres, but do seem to love inspirational romance and cozy mystery best. The genres share many readers, so it’s easy to grow audiences on both fronts at once. And since there were so many knitting characters in my romances, it wasn’t hard to follow that through line (or should I say that yarn) from one type of book to the other. Both center on community, clever heroines, humor…and a good story is always a good story. LUV: Tell us something most fans don’t know about you. Allie: I started out wanting to be an actor. I have a theater degree, am wildly extroverted, and love an audience—that’s not something you normally associate with writers. It’s why I do so much speaking and coaching—I’m not wired to spend all my time in my imagination.
