Part #4 of our chat with @Melonie LUV: What is your favorite romance comfort read and watch? Melonie: I recently binged THE MINDY PROJECT, and really enjoyed the many witty nods to rom-com tropes, the show takes some turns I didn’t love, but gets to the HEA in the end in a way that feels full circle and complete so if you started the series, but haven’t finished, I highly recommend you keep going. Currently, my fav comfort romance is a re-watch of the television series, NEW GIRL. There are so many great relationship arcs on this show, fantastic friendships and happy endings that feel truly earned. And since the hero of my upcoming release, the rom-com TOO WRONG TO BE RIGHT, was inspired by Nick Miller, it has been fun to revisit this character and watch how he develops on the show. Regarding romance comfort reads, though I write contemporary stories, my heart is with historicals (I blame the Sunfire series, YA hist-roms that were published by Scholastic in the 1980s), and my favorites those written by Laura Kinsale, especially the audiobook versions narrated by Nicholas Boulton. You can’t go wrong with any of them, but if I had to recommend one, it’s FLOWERS FROM THE STORM. I even discussed my enduring love for this novel in an episode of the romance podcast Whoa!mance.
