More like book friends… ⭐️ Book Review ⭐ Book Lovers Author: Emily Henry Book Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m not going to summarize this book because I think most people have read it already 😂 I was one of the dissenting voices for People We Meet on Vacation so I went into Book Lovers a bit skeptical. Well … I didn’t hate it! It might be my favourite of her books, BUT I find something missing in her writing. I had to sit with this one for a few days, but I think I figured out what is lacking for me. It’s the ROMANCE!! I think where Henry shines is banter. About 75% of this book is Nora and Charlie quipping, look it’s funny and at times charming, but it’s too much of the book for me. There is no progression from enemies to lovers. It is too fast IMO, there’s no wooing or longing. It’s just boom we’re going to get it on now. I want more space and time for the love to develop. This book had too many side stories going on to let the love blossom. I found the sister storyline got abandoned quickly. This was supposed to be a trip for THEM, and they never spent any time together. Like maybe write a couple of scenes?? At no point is Nora really concerned about her pregnant sister until she really has to be. This part of the story felt really clunky for me. I did really enjoy the twist on the small town romance and the inclusion of another romance book. I love a book within a book! Overall it’s an enjoyable read, but I just want more out of her writing. I want to be in my feels!
