This week LUV’s chatting with Shannyn Schroeder, the author of The O’Leary Family series, The O’Malley Family series and The Doyle Family series, contemporary romances centered around large Irish-American families in Chicago. Schroeder has also penned The Hot & Nerdy, Daring Divorcees and the Counterfeit Capers series. LUV: What is your writing schedule like? Are you a full-time writer or do you balance a second career? Shannyn: I am not a full-time writer. I juggle multiple part-time jobs. I write and edit curriculum for an education company, I teach English 101 at a nursing school, and I’m an executive functions coach. While it might seem like a lot, these different roles give me flexibility in my schedule so I’ve always been around as my kids were growing. For me, I write around the other schedules. Pre-Covid, I wrote when my kids were in their various practices – swim, dance, etc., and every Sunday night I met with friends at Panera and we wrote for hours. These days, my writing still usually happens in the evenings, but more so on the weekends. I’m still trying to find my new routine.
