Part #3 of our chat with Lori Foster LUV: What is your writing schedule like? Are you a full-time writer or do you balance a second career? Lori: I’m a full time writer. I have huge respect for anyone tackling both. Now that my kids are grown, I look back and wonder how I did it all, so my respect goes to those writers with young kids still at home, too. Let’s face it, there are only so many hours in the day. My schedule now is far different from back then. I’m up early – for no apparent reason, just because my internal alarm clock insists – and I like drinking coffee while sorting through social media. Usually around 10 or 11 am, I get started writing, and I write until the characters stop talking to me. I’m not a plotter, so I rely heavily on those characters telling me what’s next, what the dialogue should be, any secondary characters that are introduced, and what the settings look like. For me, writing is almost like reading – I don’t know what’s going to happen next until the characters clue me in. When they go quiet, so do I. Luckily, they talk to me a lot!
