Part #2 of our chat with author @JuliaAmante LUV: You write emotionally rich stories about family, love, and the passion of chasing and achieving one’s goals featuring Latino characters and the cultural flavor of Hispanic life in America. Can you share more? Is there a book you are most proud of? Julia: I began my writing career writing for Kensington Publishing’s Encanto Romance line. These were books written by Latino authors about Latino characters. Until then, publishers were not publishing “fun” commercial fiction featuring Latino characters, so it was a wonderful opportunity to write about my culture. I continued to write books with Latino themes even after the line closed because it’s important to me to write books many Americans can relate to. My previous novel, LET US BEGIN is an example of this and the one I’m most proud of. The story begins with a young couple who immigrate to the United States in the 1960s determined to live the American Dream. The story not only tackles immigration and success but also addresses the complexities of marriage and staying in love during difficult times. These are themes and ideas that all Americans can appreciate.
