5 years ago the world lost a true artist. Riddled with demons, Daniel Johnston was the living embodiment of an artist. His work, art, life and struggles with mental health have inspired me and many others worldwide. His lyrics and artwork tell a story about how he saw the world through troubled eyes in a raw poetic way. I am lucky enough to own a piece of artwork drawn by him. The piece is “Capitan American and a Woman”, though a crude penned piece it showcases Daniel’s style, love of comics and passion for creating art. Daniel’s words and lyrics were even showcased at Ann and I’s wedding ♥️ I am not a religious person but I am spirited attached to artists such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Petty, & David Bowie. Daniel Johnston holds a place in my spiritual realm and will be honoured forever. RIP Daniel Johnston, you are finally free of your demons.
