A season for dildos... ⭐️ Book Review ⭐ A Season For Second Chances Author: Jenny Bayliss Book Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Spice Rating 🌶 OMG this book made me LOL so hard I was rolling off my couch. It’s technically a romance since it does include a relationship with a HEA, but IMO it sits in a hilarious literary fiction spot. The story follows Annie, who is a top chef in London. After a grueling service, she realizes she left her phone at her restaurant. She walks in to find her husband and business partner, Max, tasting his way through one of her wait staff. After countless affairs, this marriage has truly spoiled, and Annie decides to reboot her life. She takes on a winter guardian position in a seaside home where she meets a plethora of towns folk that will have you in stitches and in tears. Annie reopens the teashop and warms her way into the community and the landlord, John’s heart. The book is over 400 pages and I think it could’ve been tighten up to keep the pace up, BUT it is pack with so much enjoyment including: ☕️ Artisan coffee 🤥 Dildo connoisseurs 📚 A Victorian book club 🎃🎄Halloween and Christmas celebrations 😼 A rude cat 👅 Hilarious foreplay A town with a cursed past 🍟 Lots of pub food The spice level is really low as the story really focuses on the dissolution of Annie’s marriage and her flirting with John. There are some great makeout scenes but the chapter where Annie receives a dildo from her book club might be my favourite chapter this year. Bayliss is a skilled comedic writer. I would definitely take a second chance on anything Bayliss writes. #QOTD - Do you like more comedy or spice in your romance books?
