Part #3 of our chat with author @miranda LUV: What is a recent favorite romance movie or television show that captures the essence of romance novels? Can you explain how it does so? Miranda: I just watched The Idea of You on Amazon Prime, based on the novel by Robinne Lee. The age gap, with the hero being a lot closer to the heroine’s daughter’s age than her own, presented realistic barriers for the parties to overcome. That’s always tough, to have the obstacles to love be realistic and yet also able to be conquered. Also there’s the aspect of the hero’s fame as a member of a globally famous boy band. As a mom to teens now, I could feel Sol’s daughter’s mortification of her mom being reviled as a cougar in the public eye while the daughter also didn’t want to support the patriarchy that only allows age gaps to work one way. And that hero, what a cinnamon roll, just delicious.
