Happy Monday Luverlies 💕 This week we're spotlighting screenwriter and author @Lolah Lace LUV: You were a screenwriter before writing romance novels. What inspired the change? Do you still write screenplays? What is the biggest difference between the two formats? Lolah: When I was a teen, my dream was to be a screenwriter. Years later, I briefly worked in film as a script supervisor and actor, but I could never sell one of my screenplays. Growing up, I’d always written in different formats, song lyrics, poems, etc. Writing was always my happy place. One night about 15 years ago, I had a dream about vampires. This dream wasn’t presented to me in screenplay format. I dreamt it as a book and that’s what inspired me to write my first novel. About a year later, on a dare, I wrote my first romance novel. Currently, I write romance novels and screenplays. In my opinion, the major difference in these formats are screenplays are a visual medium written with the intent to be a collaborative effort with actors, directors and a film crew. Screenplays tell a story on the screen where novels use all the senses to tell a story on the page. Writing novels has been more lucrative for me, but three of my screenplays (Single & Ready, Adam Loves Evelyn and Hotel Swirl) have been produced and are currently on the streaming service Tubi.
