Logline: Used to overcoming challenges, enterprising and deaf PR guru Birdie Carlyle decides to take a fake boyfriend along to qualify for a free trip-for-two beach vacation, even if it’s her work nemesis who has to act the part. Summary: Deaf since childhood, Birdie Carlyle loves her job as a PR consultant. What she doesn’t love--constantly being paired at work with her nemesis, Will, just because they happen to be an unstoppable professional team. When Birdie considers leaving the firm, her friend Carla suggests a vacation to give her the mental space she needs to decide. The two friends enter a competition for a free trip for two, but on the day of the event, Carla is sick and sends Will to compete in her place. With their trademark teamwork, Birdie and Will advance to the finals but must win over the crowd for the final step. PR pros to the core, they decide to pretend to be in love. A big kiss sends the crowd wild, but now they’re committed to two weeks spent as a couple in the social media spotlight. It doesn’t take Birdie and Will long to realize that their little ruse is a big commitment. They’re forced to spend all their free time together, negotiating communal activities, a shared room, and the one king-size bed. To Birdie’s surprise, Will behaves as the perfect fake boyfriend, nursing her when she gets a sunburn, making crafts right alongside her, and helping her during the times when she is without her cochlear implant. They also befriend Mae, the hotel worker who came up with the free trip promotion and now relies on its success to keep her job. With each passing day in paradise, the two grow closer. But when their relationship is apparently threatened, Birdie is done pretending. She must admit her true feelings to Will and also devise a way to come clean to the world without costing Mae her job. And only when she honors her own heart will she discover that Will has an even bigger surprise in store for her.
