Bond: Let me introduce you to Olivia Gaines in her own words first: “An author of contemporary romances, she writes heartwarming stories of blossoming relationships filled with heart and humor.” I met Olivia back in 2018 at the Interracial Romance Authors Expo in Daytona Beach. I had read THURSDAYS IN SAVANNAH, which was my introduction to her work, and I fell in love. Olivia is funny, plain and simple, and that sense of humor shines in all her stories. She’s charming and smart and her characters, male and female, all possess those same qualities. Whether she’s writing about a drug lord, an assassin, or a librarian, Olivia imbues each character with qualities that make me want to get to know them for real. And those characters drive her unique and intriguing plots. And that’s just her as a writer. As a human being, Olivia is warm, giving, and genuine, while still managing to maintain a professional, prepared, and polished demeanor at all times. I really love her and admire her work ethic, her focus on her craft, and her willingness to share what she knows and how to do the things she does so successfully with anyone willing to learn. She’s a teacher and a veteran and a thoroughly delightful human being, even when she’s being sassy. At the end of the day, she’s real. She’s not concerned about comparing herself to anyone else or trying to fit in with any group. She’s just herself, and that’s what draws me to her and keeps me with her.
