Part #3 of our chat with @authorktbond LUV: What is your writing schedule like? K.T. Bond: I’ve been a full-time writer since July, 2015. I retired from public education in New York City in June of that year, and continued to ghostwrite for clients until I self-published my first story as K. T. Bond in 2018. While I was still working, it was challenging to meet my clients’ deadlines at the same time as I had to complete my job tasks in a timely and professional manner. As a retired person, I can do whatever makes me comfortable as I create worlds where people can love each other freely, once they figure out how to overcome whatever challenges stand in their way. I write with two writing partners every weekday, pausing for a lunch break. The only change to that comes if any of us have other places to be or people to see. One of my partners is even now staying with her mom who is recovering from surgery, so she’s not able to be with us. However, even when we’re apart, we still work on our projects and share what we’ve done with each other when we can. Working sessions usually also include sharing what we’ve done and critiquing/editing each other’s work. We FaceTime each other during these working sessions so we feel more like we’re with each other, which is really helpful given how isolating being a writer can be. We talk about diverse subjects: the work we’re doing, what we’re reading, how we see ourselves as writers, what our brand is and who would most appreciate the stories we tell, how reading impacts our writing, who would play our favorite characters in our stories. it’s a very fulfilling writing partnership.
