⭐️ ARC Book Review ⭐ It Happened On Christmas Author: Chantel Guertin Book Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ RELEASES OCT 31ST Romance trope: enemies to lovers 🔪🔜❤️ This is my fav romance trope because it allows for maximum tension, and this story is chock-full of it. The book opens with MC Zoey in a panic. She’s writing and directing her first holiday film and her locations manager has secured permits for Chelsea, New York instead of Chelsea, Quebec. She’s crunched for time and her producer has given her until Christmas Day to get those darn permits. She has five days, no biggie, right?? Right??? Insert Natalie Portman/Star Wars meme. She gets to Chelsea, ill prepared for the weather and the vibe. She thought everyone in this quaint town she remembered from childhood would be totally into her big L.A. movie. Not so fast. Insert Ben, he’s a hot tree farmer who rejects her and her request to shoot on his property. Oh, and he also happens to be the mayor. No permits for you! He wants to keep Chelsea, Chelsea and doesn’t want a flock of tourists. The setup is fairly basic and what I expect from most seasonal rom-coms, BUT what makes this book unique is what happens next. A massive ice storm hits the town and the story shifts into survival mode. Ben and Zoey get stuck in the storm where they must battle the elements and their attraction to each other. Insert getting naked to share body heat, winter rescue and sexy maple syrup time. I usually complain when it takes too long to get the couple together, but I didn’t mind waiting for the right moment in this book. The story unfolds exactly like it should. BUT when the clothes did come off I wanted them to stay off a bit longer. I wasn’t fully thawed before we moved on. If you enjoyed Christina Lauren’s Something Wilder then you should add this to your holiday reading list. #QOTD - Do you travel during the holidays or stay at home?
