Part #2 of our chat with author Lucy Munroe. LUV: You published with traditional publishers for over two decades before selecting the Indie route. Can you share how this transition has been? What inspired your decision and what are the advantages and challenges? Lucy: Going to fully indie publishing wasn't an easy decision, but it came down to writing the stories I believed in. Or not. After Harlequin editors asked me to gut (cut more than 50%) of three of my last six novels for them, I knew the time had come to try it on my own. There was a steep learning curve from figuring out which route was best for me (publishing wide or being in Kindle Unlimited) to learning how to put the print version of my book up on IngramSpark. (Yes, there are other options, but again…had to figure out the one that fits me and my readers' needs best.) I've learned so much and found an incredible community with other indie romance authors. Going into Kindle Unlimited opened the door for me to a whole new group of readers. Between them and the readers that followed me from traditional publishing, I feel incredibly blessed.
