This week LUV's spotlighting author @cindykeh who began her writing journey after her 50th birthday 🥳 LUV: You started your publishing career post pandemic and over the age of 50. Can you tell us about this experience? Cindy: It may sound like a bad 90’s movie but I heard voices. They were having conversations and I had no idea who they were but I knew exactly what they were talking about. One story in particular that had been in my subconscious since 1994 started to become very clear. It was a suspense story much like a Robert Ludlum or Ian Fleming type adventure across different countries and had political intrigue. But when my characters started falling in love it became a whole new thing. Like Jason Bourne with sexy times. LOL! I joined Twitter to follow some authors I liked. And before I knew it there was this amazing community cheering me on and giving invaluable advice on what to do next. The most helpful was the “Pitch Contest” that launched everything. I wrote a 50+ second chance-romance influenced by “Romancing The Stone” featuring an unattainable-rockstar, except he’s a professional surfer. With my two stories I “pitched” and got crazy great feedback from mentors and TWO publishers were interested. I also tried the traditional agent query route and got very discouraged. But I know business and a “middle-man” would only take my profits. So I went with the small ebook publishers and never looked back.
