Bernadette: My next book, LIZ’S ROAD TRIP, which comes out August 1st, 2023, is not only the biggest book I’ve ever written, it’s different from anything else I’ve written. With the best books of 2022 being written in first person point of view (POV), and done so well, I thought I’d try it. An avid 3rd person POV writer, I took it as a challenge and fell in love with it! I never thought that would happen. I also strayed from my regular formula of contemporary romance and this new book is heavy women’s fiction/ romance. The story follows Liz Evans as she treks across the country with her grandmother’s cat to finalize her grandmother’s last wishes. During her journey she finds that her grandmother, who dropped everything when Liz was ten to raise her after Liz’s mother died, lived many different lives and had kept them a secret. One of the other secrets was that her grandmother kept her Palm Beach house, and that there is a man who lives there, Mark Watts. Mark is a biographer who is writing the story of the one time Hollywood actress / writer that was Liz’s gran. It is Mark’s job to fill in the missing pieces to Liz’s gran’s life. The book follows Liz through the death of her grandmother, and the drive from Denver to Palm Beach, Florida with the cat and her grandmother’s urn, and the relationship that sparks between Liz and Mark. Spoiler alert, even though this book takes you on a journey through heartbreak, discovery, and love—it has a happily ever after, because I always guarantee you’ll get one.
