⭐️Adaptation Review ⭐ Queen Charlotte Author: Julia Quinn & Shonda Rhimes Book Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Series Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ The book and the TV series are prequels to the Bridgerton franchise. Shonda and Julia teamed up and wrote the book together which launched the same week as the series. The main storyline in the book and the series is EXACTLY the same. A lot of the dialog in the series is ripped straight from the novel. Both follow a young teen Charlotte as she’s sold off to the British monarchy to marry King George. George is “mad” and the two struggle and work together against all odds to make their marriage work. ***SPOILERS*** Here are my thoughts on the adaptation: 👸🏾 “The Great Experiment” is alluded to in the book, but Rhimes really brings the topic of race, class and status to the forefront of the series which adds a whole level of drama which is missing from the book. ❤️‍🔥 Horny Violet Bridgerton is a serve! I was LOL’ing about her lady garden. There is no present day storyline in the book so you miss out on that chunk of the series that includes Charlotte’s heir woes and Agatha Danbury. 🥵 Horny Agatha Danbury is a serve! Who knew she was a professional gardener? There’s no scene in the book where she gets it on with Violet’s dad!!!! This was a shocker when I was watching it. The series really amped up her role and I was here for every minute of it. 🌶️ The sex was spicy, the tub scene in that dress! 🐶 I appreciated that we got the pomeranian backstory in both the book and series. Deformed bunny 🐰🤭 🤨 Disappointed that there was no backstory on present day Lady Danbury’s eyebrows 🥳 Who knew paper hats could be so problematic? 👀 Farmer George’s eyebrows and arms #QOTD - Have you watched the series?
