Part #2 of our chat with author @megancrane LUV: What is your writing schedule like? Are you a full-time writer or do you juggle a second profession? Megan: I’m a full-time writer and I try to arrange my life so I work from 9-5 most days with weekends free… but that doesn’t always work out. I was at my desk until almost midnight the night before last because something needed to get finished, for example. And the closer I am to a deadline the more likely I am to work through the weekends. My days are typically writing days or editing days. If I’m writing, that means I’m out dictating. I started dictating the first drafts of my books about 8 years ago (or so) and I’ve never looked back. I live in a rural area, so usually only the deer and the squirrels get to see me driving VERY CAREFULLY with my laptop on the passenger seat or the floor, talking to myself. I do a specific loop that I know very well, once or twice depending on how many words I need. Bonus: it’s pretty out there! If I’m editing, I usually spend the day at my desk, cleaning up what I dictated and shaping sentences to my liking. And of course no book is ever written correctly unless I spend a day or two moping around, listening to music and brooding about the characters. Always time well spent! Though I will say that having written 10 or so books a year for quite a few years now, if I find I’m doing too much moping and brooding, it’s time to get out there and get a lot of words down! #QOTD - Do you dictate when writing
