Barely a word spoken, Erin bolts for the house, slamming the door in his face. Steve returns the next day, both blaming each other for the demise of their teenage romance twenty years ago, concluding that the band's scrupulous manager was responsible. With '90s boy bands en vogue, Steve is intent on writing and recording a new hit single at the studio that will kick off a world tour. He insists that money is no object. Undecided, Erin visits her mother, Carol, who reminds Erin that she hasn't gone on a date since the fatal car crash four years ago that took Erin's long-time husband. Carol suggests fate brought Steve back into her life, adding that if there's no spark after all these years, their romance was never meant to be. As a savvy businesswoman, Erin knows what the cash infusion and publicity will do for the studio's bottom line. But she's unsure what spending time with Steve will do to her heart. Already swamped helping Hannah prepare for her Christmas Day nuptials, Erin takes her mother's advice and agrees to produce the band's song. But there's one topic Erin and Carol failed to discuss, one that was indeed top of mind.
