This week LUV is spotlighting author Wendy Million who's a Watty Award winner whose contemporary romances about strong women and troubled men have captivated her loyal readers. She is the author of the romantic suspense series The Donaghey Brothers, the NA sports romance Saving Us, and the contemporary second chance romance, When Stars Fall. LUV: Many people dream about being a writer. What is the one thing you wish you had known when you started your career? Wendy: So many things! From a writer perspective, I think the notion that there’s only one way to tell a story or there’s a “right” way to do it can be a trap. Writing is a very creative profession, and it’s okay to be creative in the way you tell a story. From a financial standpoint, I wish I’d had a better understanding of the pros and cons of traditional publishing versus indie publishing. Unless you hit it big in the traditional arena, indie is much more profitable and sustainable for a career (assuming you want it to be your primary career). The status attached to being traditionally published is nice (and I still do it too), but indie, if you’re organized enough, is the way to make money. #QOTD - Have you published anything independently?
