Part #4 of our chat with author, Suleikha Snyder. LUV: What is your favorite romance movie or tv show that really captures the essence of romance novels? Can you explain how it does so? Suleikha: This question is a graduate school thesis waiting to happen. I could go on and on. But I’ll just pick one: Good Behavior, which ran for two seasons on TNT and is now available on HBO Max. Make no mistake, it’s definitely a dark romance series. It reminds me of old-school Anne Stuart books, though it was helmed by two men, Chad Hodge and Blake Crouch. Michelle Dockery, of Downton Abbey fame, plays a con artist and recovering drug addict. Juan Diego Botto is a cynical hitman at odds with his wealthy family. When their paths cross, their lives change forever—and for the better. That’s what makes it a perfect romance arc to me. They grow stronger as individuals and as a pair due to the passion and emotion between them. It’s messy, it’s angsty, it’s romantic suspense at its finest. And though Good Behavior got canceled, I think the season two finale counts as an HEA! Or at least a Happy For Now.
