This week LUV is spotlighting author Suleikha Snyder, who is an award-winning author of contemporary and paranormal romance, whose works have been showcased in The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, BuzzFeed, The Times of India, and NPR. LUV: Many people dream about being a writer. What is the one thing you wish you had known when you started your career? Suleikha: I wish I’d known that you need to keep space between your love of writing and the business of publishing. Our dreams are creative, about inventing characters, and making stories. Publishing is about making money—and not necessarily for the author. It can kill your passion for the actual craft when you start realizing your work is a commodity. It’s a downer, right? Not romantic at all. But it’s better to know that going in than to have your dreams crushed, you know? #QOTD - Can you relate to Suleikha's answer?
