A book that cuts deep... ⭐️ Book Review ⭐ Anatomy: A Love Story Author: Dana Schwartz Book Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ If you’re looking for a little romance with your goth this month, I highly recommend picking up Anatomy. You will find it in the YA section, but really that only pertains to the MC being 18 years-old. Think of this as a dark, medical Bridgerton. MC Hazel is obsessed with becoming a doctor, but that’s not in the cards for this Regency socialite. No women are allowed in medicine! After losing her eldest son, Hazel’s mother is keen to secure a marriage for her daughter ASAP. Hazel fakes an illness to avoid the “season” and her mother takes her youngest son to Bath for a holiday while Hazel recuperates. Hazel does her best She’s The Man impersonation and enrolls into a surgery program. She gets exposed to all the disgusting guts she craves. She’s desperate to practice on a subject but the government at that time outlawed the use of cadavers. She hooks up with resurrectionist de jour, Jack, and the two develop deeper feelings than the graves they rob. Hazel gets busted literally, and the Dr. in charge of the course says she can take the medical exam as a woman, BUT if she fails then no other woman will be allowed back. There’s mystery, murder, promenading, horseback riding, a plague and a love story that will pump the live back into any broken heart. This one had me gripped from start to finish. It’s the perfect page turner if you are looking for something a bit dark but not too scary. #qotd What are you reading?
