A sweet swap... ⭐️ Book Review ⭐ The Holiday Swap Author: Maggie Knox Book Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Knox takes on the twin twist in this holiday romp by switching the Giada wannabe, Charlie, with her small town baking sis Cass, after Charlie loses her sense of taste and smell. Cass must fake and bake her way through Charlie’s Salty & Sweet baking series to secure Charlie’s spot at her network. Like any good swap, our MCs find themselves by being other people. Both find love, BUT the sister relationship really rises like an early pandemic sourdough. The romance in the book is more homemade gooey brownie than tableside flambé. I joined a Zoom event last night with one of the authors, Marissa Stapley. Here’s a little insight into the book: 👯‍♀️ Marissa Stapley and Karma Brown are Canadian authors (woohoo) and friends, and during the pandemic they decided to work on the book together 🧁 Karma was a huge baking series fan and came up with the plotline after watching Zumbo’s Just Desserts 🥰 Their goal was to write a feel-good book that had zero sadness or seriousness, akin to a Hallmark holiday film 🔄 They alternated writing chapters so they both got to write as Cass and Charlie 🚪 They always wanted it to be a closed door romance to fit with the overall tone. Plus the events happen over a short time so they thought the level of steam was appropriate for the characters. 🥳 They are writing another book together, which will come out in 2022! #QOTD - Do you watch any baking series? If so, what’s your fav? #AOTD - I love Zumbo’s Just Desserts too (on Netflix) and The Great British Bake Off
